Welcome to Foresters Lodge

Foresters LodgeForesters LodgeForesters Lodge is located in a sheltered inlet just a short distance away from romantic and historic Loch Shiel overlooking the Polloch river which meanders through the glen from Loch Doilet. The lodge is situated in the grounds of our croft which was also formerly a forester’s bothy and game keeper’s croft house. The lodge has uninterrupted views south to Beinn Resipol, east to Glenhurich Forest and north and west to the mountains.

We are delighted to be able to offer a unique, luxury self-catering lodge in one of the most spectacular and unspoilt remote areas on the west coast of Scotland, with sauna and spa bath.

'Perfect for anytime of year'

Foresters lodge is ideally located to take full advantage of various activities in the immediate vicinity including walking, kayaking and fishing on Loch Shiel and Loch Doilet. The area of Glenhurich offers cycling on some of the best undiscovered forestry tracks in the Highlands including the route alongside Loch Shiel to Glenfinnan. This route should definitely be on every cyclists tick list.

'Pure escapism'

We have mountain bikes available for lodge guests to hire please see our rates page for prices. Take a bike and cycle the epic Loch Shiel route to Glenfinnan and visit the station museum. Grab a bite to eat in the 1950s dining carriage and cycle to the viaduct to spot the Hogwarts Express (from the Harry Potter films) pass over this magnificent structure. For more information visit Glenfinnan-Trax.

'The views are simply breathtaking'

The nearest village is Strontian, 8 miles away, which is known for its mining of the mineral Strontium named after the village. Thank you for the most wonderful stay in your lodge. The location is perfect, loved the feeling of being isolated and enjoying all the wildlife here along with the changing light - perfect for painting and photography. Varied walks straight from the lodge. A variety of birds to entertain and of course seeing the Pine Marten so close was a treat. The Heather was spectacular. Mark and Amy are wonderful hosts, a veggie box is a must as is the venison. Would also recommend buying fresh fish on a Tuesday morning in Strontian. Wishing Mark and Amy continued success look forward to returning soon.

Fantastic week which we thoroughly enjoyed in this well-equipped lodge in a beautiful setting. What more could you ask for? We have not been in a lodge that is so full of information on everything which added to our holiday.
The wildlife we had visit was great, so much variety of birds and the Pine Martens who visited daily. We also appreciated all the information Mark gave us too. Thank you.

We arrived here via the lake district, 3 days after our wedding for our honeymoon and its been just what we needed, after a hectic few months, to properly unwind. The area is stunning, the locals so friendly, the lodge is so cosy and well equipped (super comfy bed, bath, sauna every utensil needed in the kitchen!) And you are great hosts. Thank you for arranging champagne on arrival and the wonderful flowers, card, and a taxi service so we could enjoy an unforgettable meal at Kilcamb Lodge hotel. We've had a fabulous time and its going to be very hard indeed to drag ourselves away. It's made for a very memorable week away and a wonderful honeymoon.

We've had a fantastic week based here at Polloch. Definitely has felt like a wilderness adventure, but with the luxury of a lovely cosy, warm lodge. We cycled to Glenfinnan to have a view of the train on the viaduct great lunch at the museums 1950 train carriage. We did the Jacobite train trip thank you for organizing the tickets. We thoroughly enjoyed Ardnamurchan lighthouse Great drive. Finally but not least as everyone else has said, how lucky are we to have sat here each evening and watched pine martens at least 2 given different markings that combined with otters at Garbh Eilean have made it a very special week. Thank you Mark and Amy, Great lodge.

Stunning scenery! Amazing bike riding and hiking on the doorstep. Lodge is beautiful and we loved the sauna and jacuzzi ! With the peaty water it felt like I was having a jacuzzi in a bath of whisky ! I wish!! I had a nose to nose encounter with the pine martin! Albeit through the lodge door! Won't forget that ever! You have to visit the Ariundle centre for lunch.Traveled 370 miles to get here! It was well worth it! Weather was amazing too. Will be back soon with our kayaks!

Well what can you say? Such a beautiful, warm cosy and luxurious lodge. Loved every minute of our weeks stay here despite the rather wet weather. It was just what we needed to de-stress and recharge. The lodge is truly a delight with every luxury you could need - one of the best places I have stayed in Scotland.
Thank you to my Sister Ali, and Mark and Amy for making it possible.
The Pine martens are a delight! If you remember to leave out peanuts at night you will be rewarded!

Just wanted to say "thank you" for a wonderful stay in a truly wonderful place!
It is by far the most perfect place we have stayed in Scotland in the years we have visited.
Thank you so much for the organization of the bikes & such a well equipped Lodge.
The information that you had to hand in the lodge was just so valuable - we didn't stop reading or finding out more & more!

We will be back!

We've had a wonderful 5 nights here.
Amazingly peaceful remote and calming lots of birds spotted including some spectacular displays from the buzzards and the cheeky Pine Marten made an appearance on the first night.
We've been on some lovely walks including Ariundle Oakwoods and the forest track in front of the lodge with amazing views of Loch Shiel.
Would definitely recommend Ardnamurchan lighthouse, Sanna Bay, Garbh Eilean wildlife hide.
The Highlands have us hooked and we've fallen in love with Scotland all over again we'll be back!

We said we’d be back. Amazing differences in 4 months, so peaceful without that harsh December wind. Found some new places – explored Morvern. Had two meals at Kilcamb – definitely a treat dinner and the walk around Loch Doilet is a must.
It is much harder to leave the second time. Arthur is refusing to get out of his bed.
Thanks for everything

Given our 3 night stay as a Christmas gift, and couldn't be more happier.
Definitely earns the title "Luxury self catering". Been to many that call them selves Luxury, but this by far out strips the rest. Amazing countryside and a lovely warm cosy Lodge for the cold nights.
Both Mark and Amy have been amazing, and always happy to help or advise if needed.
Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Not ready to be leaving yet. Even the cavalier King Charles spaniel looks sad. A few flakes of snow are falling as I write, and after a snow fall yesterday I would highly recommend the walk to overlook Loch Shiel... There is a small track which climbs quite steeply (to the left of the road which leaves the property uphill) We moved to the Brecon Beacons some years ago for some sense of Wilderness but this is another level. Even if you restrict your travels to a few mile radius of the lodge then there is so much to see, and so much peace to behold.

I came here to paint the landscape and I hope when home that I have been able to distill something of this place that makes me so unwilling to leave. Duncan Johnson.

Can't really express in words what an amazing time we've had! If you get chance read witch light by Susan fletcher while you are here. I'll put Duncan's work on line when it is ready but in the meantime Duncan Macdonald Johnson on Instagram +Facebook

Spent a brilliant October half term in the peaceful surroundings of Polloch and the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
The lodge has been fantastic, so well equipped + warm and cosy throughout. Ending a day in the rain with a Jacuzzi bath + Sauna is a must!!

The pine marten made an appearance on our very first night and we have spotted 4 eagles. We have done a mixture of walking, driving, cycling + beaching and thoroughly enjoyed this area of Scotland. We will be recommending to anyone who will listen. A very warm welcome from Mark and Amy from the moment we arrived.

What a place to switch off from it all!!

Had a lovely time in foresters Lodge! We came for our Honeymoon and we're so pleased with how relaxing and remote the hideaway was!
We spent a lot of time at Glenfinnan and the surrounding areas, we also walked Ben Nevis!
The lodge itself was perfect for unwinding after a long day of walking!
We will definitely recommend this gorgeous lodge! And hope to come back again soon!

It's a different world out here, it's not every day you get your road to your accommodation blocked by Highland cattle.
The lodge is a Haven so peaceful and pure escapism. Very well done out with everything you need and more.
A great place to come and de-stress.

Thank you Mark and Amy.

We've had a lovely week here, first 4 days super hot and sunny & last few were big rain showers with some sunny bits between, (more what we're used to).
We've been out all day everyday exploring & walking, visiting smokehouse, castle, lighthouse, watching Minke Whales for hours, Glenfinnan, Glenuig Beach, Kendra Bay, and yesterday we spent the day at Ariundle Centre with Kate Campbell having a spinning wool processing class something we've wanted to get started on for ages... So, the rain on the last day& Kate's class were good timing!)
We've enjoyed this Lodge very very much. So comfortable, well cared for, beautiful area.
Thank you, Mark and Amy we will hopefully return, and meanwhile we'll recommend your place at every opportunity!
Best wishes,

So excited to get some photographs of the 'Resident' pine Marten had almost given up hope then he appeared at 5.30pm on our second to last night.
Loved our hideaway in the valley of Polloch. Visited Mallaig the scenery on our journey was wonderful, the white sands of Morar outstanding.
Had a day trip to Mull to Tobermory lovely fishing village.
But my highlight was standing on the hill photographing the Harry Potter train as it crossed the viaduct at Glenfinnan.
Thank Mark and Amy for allowing us to stay in your lodge, we've had an amazing time, all our good wishes for your future plans.

Arrival & walk up to peninsula of Loch Shiel, stunning views & weather dinner on balcony to the sound of birds, the river & the breeze in the trees, bliss, Sauna Jacuzzi work forgotten 100% relaxed with in a few hours of being here. 20th - leisurely breakfast, weather even better than yesterday, we hired bikes from Mark. And Rosie Nicole & I set off exploring Loch Doilet, I fell off which caused much amusement.
Drove to Strontian for supplies, the shop sells everything!
21st- the weather remained warm but cloudy and rainy, leaving dramatic scenes & giving us the excuse to spend the day reading, relaxing and eating, Rosie was tired after her biking yesterday too.
Work is a distant memory.
22nd sad to leave for the next leg of our holiday, hope to go via Glenfinnan.
To Amy, Mark & Alfie, thank you for making us so welcome & for an amazing start to our holiday.

And we were blown away. The views are simply breathtaking.

Two major activities included walking around Loch Doilet (it was lovely) and cycling Loch Shiel. We ended up having a late lunch in the hotel in Glenfinnan which was delicious!
Although the road was incredibly bumpy, the views were worth the pain!
We were rained on one day but enjoyed the selection of books and films and views from the windows.
We saw an abundance of birds (and if I knew anything about birds I'd tell their names.
We also saw a pine marten when we went to get eggs from forestry house(good eggs they were)
Thank you for a wonderful few days in a lovely part of the country.
