A blessing to be here again- thank you Mark & Amy for the lovely gifts. The lodge is lovely and we really enjoyed taking it easy. Still, plenty of wildlife...there can't be too many places where one can sit on the sofa staring out the window to see a Sea Eagle soaring close! Also had a Great Tit tapping the front door as well as a Robin standing on the door handle asking for more food! We had great walks too. God bless :-)
Thank you so much! We have absolutely loved our time lounging around the lodge and exploring the Highlands & Islands! The local area here took our breath away daily and we loved the feeling of being completely alone and secluded. A truly relaxing break, so thank you. Lots of love Anna & Robbie 😊
Thank you Mark & Amy for a fabulous relaxing stay in your luxury cabin in the middle of the wilderness! We really enjoyed all the wildlife spotting from the comfort of the cabin, and stargazing at night. What a beautiful area of Scotland you live in! We will be back! Mirelle & Karl 😊
A lovely relaxing week, beautiful location blessed with good views and an abundance of wildlife. The lodge is well equipped, everything you need to relax and just enjoy! Thank you Mark & Amy for all the goodies, nice to have treats 😊 We would love to return. God bless you both!
What a lovely week, we had great weather, sunshine, misty mornings and blue sky days. We have really enjoyed the lodge, the views and the birds. Loch Doilet has been beautiful with wonderful reflections. Thank you so much for letting us come to stay in such a peaceful place.
Thanks a lot for a lovely stay. We got some great video of the Pine Marten eating our peanuts on the outside table. Did lots of cycling and walking, weather mixed but not too bad. Thanks again x
Thanks a lot for this wonderful five days of comfort, spa, silence, nature and relaxation! This place is a total diamond with everything needed – even a potato masher! We’ve fallen in love with this place and Scotland! Hopefully we’ll meet again! Best wishes from Germany.
The views, the walks, the nature, the lodge - its comfort with Sauna and Jacuzzi, the peace ,the people- all has been simply wonderful. From start to finish this has been our best holiday ever. What a blessing the lodge has been and this whole glen. Hard to find the words to express our gratitude, thank you Mark and Amy. And thank you too for the prosecco- lovely touch!
We have absolutely loved this little cabin - it's warm, comfortable (very) and so welcoming. It has been a pleasure to return to after our days out, just to sit and enjoy the bird noise, to watch them and other wildlife and soak up the stunning surroundings - pure magic!
We were blessed to have a golden eagle last night, but it was chased away by the local buzzard who prevented it from landing in the trees behind us. That topped off the osprey seen earlier in the day over Loch Shiel, heading to Dorlin.
Thank you Mark and Amy for sharing this wonderful place - hope to be back xx
Thank you so much, we've had a fantastic 10 days in your comfortable and cosy cabin. Its been wonderful to watch as the snowstorms passed over and transformed Beinn Resipol into a snowy mountain and despite the occasional rain and hailstorms, we've been blessed with several bright sunny days for glorious hill walking and cycling. So much wildlife to enjoy too, especially the delightful Pine Marten who graced the decking most evenings (and one morning too!) We really appreciated the biscuits and chocolates, thank you!
Thanks Mark and Amy for letting us enjoy your lovely cabin and for such a friendly welcome! We really appreciated the extra touches and festive decorations (including the magnificent mince pies.) We've had a lovely relaxing week here to re-charge for 2024! We hope to visit again in a summer to experience the area then. Hope you have a great 2024! Thanks again.
We had such a wonderful staycation on the west coast of Scotland. Foresters Lodge has been the perfect home to return to after our adventures, so thank you Mark & Amy.
It has been the most perfect week to unwind, relax + reset before we return to Uni/work. We have had a mix of weather but even on the wetter days we have been able to enjoy the views from the lodge. We've had no luck with the pine marten but have run into Mr Fox eating peanuts left for pine marten. We also ran into lots of deer on our first night.
Feeling extremely lucky for such a special week.
Firstly the treats were lovely surprise and thoughtful, Thank you. The cabin was perfect and in a stunning location. Sadly the weather has been a bit hit and miss this week, the birds have eaten us out of house and home!! Thank you Mark and Amy for making us welcome. We're now going home feeling totally relaxed.
Another lovely week, thank you for a warm welcome, cottage lovely and lots of wildlife hope to see you next year.xx
Exactly as Described. Ideal for couples. Well equipped. Brilliant Location, Spot on!!
Great place to unwind and recharge those batteries. Nightly visits from Pine marten and the badger was an added bonus, my highlight was the dark sky. The stars and the milkyway was a sight I haven't seen for many years,The sky just lit up. Heaven for stargazers. Great hosts would love to come back to this amazing place xx
Here we are again, our 3rd visit now to this haven. Can we stay forever, please? Such a wholesome restorative place for us both to be still, look up and see the world for a while.Thank you both! Favourite find as recommended by Mark and Amy Salen jetty shop for a Mocha amazing cakes and panini!
A magical week away from it all. We could hardly be torn away from the view but the local walks and wildlife were wonderful. The spa bath and Sauna were the perfect way to end the day. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the board games and DVDs during the quiet evenings, A real tonic. Thank you for having us , we want to come back again soon.
One of the most beautiful places we have ever had the privilege to stay in. Would wholeheartedly return! Would be perfect for a writer's retreat! Mark and Amy were brilliant and have thought of everything, communication has always been warm and welcoming the perfect hosts! The photos do not do the beautiful place justice, it is simply jaw-dropping! Walks in abundance on the doorstep in all directions, forests mountains and Loch Shiel.
Fantastic lodge in such a beautiful place, hardly been in the car since we got here. So many beautiful walks and places to explore even in the rain the scenery is stunning. The view from the hill above the lodge is awesome. Loved all the wildlife and particularly the pine marten. Thanks so much Mark and Amy.
Lovely holiday. Thank you for a wonderful week, it has been great to switch off. The scenery has been spectacular.
Had a lovely stay at the cosy cottage. Had the privilege of the pine marten every night and the ghostly sights of Barn Owl passing by. The new spa bath was Fab!! Thank you 'we'll be back'.
We have had such a lovely and relaxing week, after two stressful years. Such a beautiful area and views to die for. Mark and Amy thank you for making us very welcome. The Lodge is great. We managed some wonderful walks , and boat trip and of course the steam train to Mallaig which we recommend. But most of all wildlife and surroundings which we loved & hopefully we will be back sometime soon. Thank you.
Blown away by this place once we arrived! Everything is beautiful, so clean luxurious thoughtful and breathtakingly peaceful, What a view!
We have had a fabulous week with glorious weather . This is our second trip to the lodge and we loved every minute of it . Thank you Mark and Amy for being wonderful hosts. We had some brilliant days out . We loved seeing the Pine Martens and Barn Owls.
Had a spectacular week in the lodge. The weather was incredible and the views were amazing. Enjoyed many BBQs for dinner and sat looking at the view from the balcony, it's breathtaking.
Loved switching off from our regular busy life in Glasgow feel really relaxed and refreshed. The lodge is clean and well-equipped, we will be back! Thanks so much for a warm welcome, you are both such lucky people to live in this incredible place.
Another absolutely brilliant stay. This was our 4th and it gets better every time. The weather has been mixed but it never stopped us from getting out and about. Thank you so much again Mark and Amy and look forward to seeing you in May.
Thank you for the most wonderful stay in your lodge. The location is perfect, loved the feeling of being isolated and enjoying all the wildlife here along with the changing light - perfect for painting and photography. Varied walks straight from the lodge. A variety of birds to entertain and of course seeing the Pine Marten so close was a treat. The Heather was spectacular. Mark and Amy are wonderful hosts, a veggie box is a must as is the venison. Would also recommend buying fresh fish on a Tuesday morning in Strontian. Wishing Mark and Amy continued success and look forward to returning soon.
We had the most amazing week! The lodge is incredible, and we could not have asked for anything more. Mark and Amy were so lovely as were the other locals we chatted to.
We wanted a remote relaxing break, and we are certainly leaving refreshed and relaxed. Thank you so much!
Fantastic week which we thoroughly enjoyed in this well-equipped lodge in a beautiful setting. What more could you ask for? We have not been in a lodge that is so full of information on everything which added to our holiday.
The wildlife we had visit was great, so much variety of birds and the Pine Martens who visited daily. We also appreciated all the information Mark gave us too. Thank you.
Thanks Mark & Amy for letting us stay in your lovely lodge , had a great week and lots of brilliant walks with bonnie. Pine Martens visited every night better than watching TV. Good luck with everything you do in the future.
Hope to be back soon. PS Thanks for the gifts went down a treat on Hogmanay.
We arrived here via the lake district, 3 days after our wedding for our honeymoon and it's been just what we needed, after a hectic few months, to properly unwind. The area is stunning, the locals so friendly, and the lodge is so cosy and well equipped (super comfy bed, bath, sauna every utensil needed in the kitchen!) And you are great hosts. Thank you for arranging champagne on arrival and the wonderful flowers, card, and a taxi service so we could enjoy an unforgettable meal at Kilcamb Lodge Hotel. We've had a fabulous time and it's going to be very hard indeed to drag ourselves away. It's made for a very memorable week away and a wonderful honeymoon.
We've had a fantastic week based here at Polloch. Definitely has felt like a wilderness adventure, but with the luxury of a lovely cosy, warm lodge. We cycled to Glenfinnan to have a view of the train on the viaduct great lunch at the museum's 1950 train carriage. We did the Jacobite train trip thank you for organizing the tickets. We thoroughly enjoyed Ardnamurchan lighthouse's Great drive. Finally but not least as everyone else has said, how lucky are we to have sat here each evening and watched pine martens at least 2 given different markings that combined with otters at Garbh Eilean have made it a very special week. Thank you Mark and Amy, Great lodge.
Stunning scenery! Amazing bike riding and hiking on the doorstep. The lodge is beautiful and we loved the sauna and jacuzzi ! With the peaty water, it felt like I was having a jacuzzi in a bath of whisky ! I wish!! I had a nose-to-nose encounter with the pine martin! Albeit through the lodge door! Won't forget that ever! You have to visit the Ariundle centre for lunch. Travelled 370 miles to get here! It was well worth it! The weather was amazing too. Will be back soon with our kayaks!
This is our 3rd visit. What a fantastic place what ever the weather thanks to Mark for sorting my fishing out. We'll be back very soon. Thanks again Mark Amy and Alfie jnr.
Absolutely awesome place to stay, amazing wildlife walks and views, oh and the weather like summer yeehaa!!
Gonna definitely try to come back here, Mark & Amy superb hosts
Well what can you say? Such a beautiful, warm cosy and luxurious lodge. Loved every minute of our weeks stay here despite the rather wet weather. It was just what we needed to de-stress and recharge. The lodge is truly a delight with every luxury you could need - one of the best places I have stayed in Scotland.
Thank you to my Sister Ali, and Mark and Amy for making it possible.
The Pine martens are a delight! If you remember to leave out peanuts at night you will be rewarded!
Another fantastic Christmas at the lodge. Mark's mince pies are Amazing! Managed to get out walking every day, the walk to the bothy is brilliant. Thanks again to Mark, Amy & Alfie Jnr for a great week.
We came here for a week of de-stress after our wedding and to relax on our honeymoon! We could not have picked a better place, so peaceful and wonderful views. Mark and Amy have been fantastic and even had a card and bubbles for our wedding gift which was such a wonderful and thoughtful thing. We most definitely will be back we had the most amazing week and the weather was fantastic We saw so many amazing things and even had a visit from the pine martens. But little Alfie has to be my highlight can't wait to return in the future to see the handsome dog he will become.
Given our 3 night stay as a Christmas gift, and couldn't be more happier.
Definitely earns the title "Luxury self catering". Been to many that call them selves Luxury, but this by far out strips the rest. Amazing countryside and a lovely warm cosy Lodge for the cold nights.
Both Mark and Amy have been amazing, and always happy to help or advise if needed.
Would definitely recommend and will be back.
Absolutely fantastic week away from the world. Weather has been typically Scottish all seasons in one week.
Amazing place to come and unwind.
So so love the isolation.
We will be back.
Not ready to be leaving yet. Even the cavalier King Charles spaniel looks sad. A few flakes of snow are falling as I write, and after a snowfall yesterday I would highly recommend the walk to overlook Loch Shiel... There is a small track which climbs quite steeply (to the left of the road which leaves the property uphill) We moved to the Brecon Beacons some years ago for some sense of Wilderness but this is another level. Even if you restrict your travels to a few-mile radius of the lodge then there is so much to see, and so much peace to behold.
I came here to paint the landscape and I hope when home that I have been able to distil something of this place that makes me so unwilling to leave. Duncan Johnson.
Can't really express in words what an amazing time we've had!
Thank you
Spent a brilliant October half-term in the peaceful surroundings of Polloch and the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
The lodge has been fantastic, so well equipped + warm and cosy throughout. Ending a day in the rain with a Jacuzzi bath + Sauna is a must!!
The pine marten made an appearance on our very first night and we spotted 4 eagles. We have done a mixture of walking, driving, cycling + beaching and thoroughly enjoyed this area of Scotland. We will be recommending it to anyone who will listen. A very warm welcome from Mark and Amy from the moment we arrived.
What a place to switch off from it all!!
Two major activities included walking around Loch Doilet (it was lovely) and cycling Loch Shiel. We ended up having a late lunch in the hotel in Glenfinnan which was delicious!
Although the road was incredibly bumpy, the views were worth the pain!
We were rained on one day but enjoyed the selection of books and films and views from the windows.
We saw an abundance of birds (and if I knew anything about birds I'd tell their names.
We also saw a pine marten when we went to get eggs from forestry house(good eggs they were)
Thank you for a wonderful few days in a lovely part of the country.
We came here at a week's notice to get away from it all.
And we were blown away. The views are simply breathtaking.
The owners Mark and Amy are fantastic hosts and have thought of everything... Without doubt the most enjoyable and relaxing break we have had. The west coast lighthouse is a must, as is the distillery.
Thank you for equipping the lodge to such a high standard.
We've had several great walks along Loch Shiel & Doilet and explored some remote forest tracks as well.
A wonderful resource for nature watching, rest and recuperation.
The tea room with WiFi at Acharacle is very friendly & the tea, coffee and cakes are great!
We'll be recommending the lodge to family and friends.
